No one can afford to say “Come on, move” to the future King of England. Except two people: his mother, the Queen Elizabeth IIand his wife, Camilla of Cornwall. Which proved it last night in Kigali, in Rwanda where the prince and duchess are on a state trip.
Charles and Camilla were guests of honor at a special event of the Kigali Fashion Week. Here they witnessed a fashion showvisited the backstage, met models and talked to them stylists of seven different countries of the Commonwealth invited to show in Rwandan Fashion Week.
The evening, of course, was full of photographers and the prince and duchess did not escape. Except, at the moment when they should have posed for a photograph Carlo lingered to chat and his wife scolded him: “Harry up!”, She said, that is: “Hurry up!”. And he laughing and pointing to his wife whispered: “She is very authoritarian”proving once again the great complicity that binds them.
The royal couple left for Rwanda a few days after Charles – in a completely unusual way, given that British royalty have always been “politically neutral” – has against the forced repatriation of Rwandan migrants organized by the government of Boris Johnson (in mid-June seven asylum seekers were already on board the Boeing which was about to transfer them to Africa when the European Court of Human Rights blocked the flight at the last minute) defining the decision of the prime minister “Appalling”, that is frightening.
Arriving in Kigali on Wednesday 22nd, Carlo and Camilla have so far met Johnston Busingye, Rwanda’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Omar Daair, the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, and President Paul Kagame, with his wife Jeannette. And then they visited the memorial which recalls the approximately 800 thousand victims of the genocide of 1994.
This in Rwanda by Carlo and Camilla is a royal historical tour: no British royal had ever visited the African country before. Not even the queen: it is in fact one of the few places in the world where, in seventy years of reign, Elizabeth II has never been.
