The head of the Imperial House was hospitalized at Hospital Santa Catarina, in Sao Paulo since the 9th of June.

The eldest of the 12 children of Pedro Henrique de Orleans e Bragança and his wife, Maria da Baviera, Dom Luiz was born on June 6, 1938, in the Mandelieu-la-Napoule resort, south of France .
