Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis “will all attend Kate Middleton’s former school, Marlborough College”: big news for the heirs to the throne

According to reliable sources, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are set to attend Marlborough College, Kate Middleton’s former high school.

At present, the children of the Princes of Wales all attend Lambrook School, which provides education for pupils aged under 13. Since Prince George is now 11 years old, there has been no shortage of speculation for some time as to where the future king will spend his formative years. Many have wondered whether she could follow in the footsteps of her father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry, and study at the prestigious Eton College, in Berkshire.

Now, however, some sources have declared to the Mail on Sunday that the Princess of Wales is so inclined to choose school in Wiltshire for her three children (which has a fee of 59,000 pounds a year) that it is no longer a question of knowing if Prince George will attend it when he turns 13, but to know which House (student residence) he will be assigned to. If George is confirmed to attend Marlborough, it will be the first time a male heir to the throne has attended a co-educational school.

“The parents are talking about nothing else and the discussions have definitely intensified in recent weeks, but safety is obviously a key aspect,” revealed the source.

Taking into account security, it is likely, according to the source, that the prince will be assigned to House C1. Being an “In House”, located around the main quadrangle of the college, the boys-only accommodation would be preferable to one of the more distant “Out Houses”, scattered around Bath Road, which would force the young member of the royal family to travel longer feet.

House C1 certainly has a real precedent. Although Hilary Mantel fans will link the Seymour family to a certain Wolf Hall, it was the relatives of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife, who initially lived in House C1. The lineage will no doubt pique the interest of King Charles, who last year was said to be a huge fan of the BBC historical drama Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light.

Marlborough boasts a long list of notable alumni, including Princess Eugenie, poets Siegfried Sassoon and John Betjeman and comedian Jack Whitehall. Perhaps, however, the most famous “Old Marlburian” is the Princess of Wales herself. Catherine enrolled in college (where her sister Pippa Middleton and brother James Middleton also studied) in 1996. For the Princess of Wales, the prospect of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis accompanying Prince George to school, just like the their uncles accompanied Catherine, it might be tempting.

The future princess is said to have enjoyed her time at boarding school, where she moved after a difficult experience at her previous school, Downe House.

“When she arrived she was very taciturn,” Catherine’s guardian, Joan Gall, recalled MailOnline. “Coming to a big school like Marlborough was difficult, but she settled in straight away.”

Indeed, before continuing her studies at the University of St Andrews, where she would meet Prince William, Catherine became an active member of the school’s hockey team, and was eventually crowned ‘Person most likely to be loved by all’. in the yearbook at graduation.

In its 2022 Guide to Schools, Tatler he wrote that Marlborough is “steeped in history”, but also that it “points firmly to the future”. The school has undergone extensive building work, equipping it with all the latest and greatest facilities to enhance the curriculum, including a large, state-of-the-art science building, professional recording studios and an ‘innovation centre’. » which aims to teach scientific-technological subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in new and interesting ways. Furthermore, the school seems to share William and Kate’s dedication to philanthropy: Monday and Wednesday afternoons are in fact dedicated to local volunteering.

Earlier this year, as reported by Mail on Sundaythere were rumors that Kate Middleton was considering Oundle School, Northamptonshire, over fears that Marlborough College had become too “flashy”.

Although this perspective seems to have changed, Oundle would also be a suitable institution for the children of the Princes of Wales. The college, founded in 1556, is in fact one of the most prestigious in the United Kingdom. It has been regulated by a royal grant since 1930 and is located in the picturesque town of the same name. On the school’s website, Oundle says it provides its pupils with “the skills, attitudes and habits of mind that will support them throughout their lives, enabling them to thrive both at school and beyond”.

In the past, it was customary for royal children to attend Gordonstoun School in Scotland, but this tradition was interrupted when then-Prince Charles and Diana chose to send Harry and William to the renowned Eton College, a hotbed of prime ministers and a school where many of the future Oxbridge students graduate. This occurred following Carlo’s apparent contempt for his former school, which he attended from 1962 to 1967 and which he famously nicknamed “Colditz (Nazi fortress prison, ed) in a kilt.”
