Journalist and writer Omid Scobie, who focuses on the Royal Family, has released a new book, in which he revealed that Prince Harry did not know about Queen Elizabeth II’s final hours. Although the Duke of Sussex was close to his grandmother, he would not have been warned about the Majesty’s worsening health.
According to The Mirror, the royal author claimed that Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, “had no idea” that Queen Elizabeth II was so weakened. In an excerpt from the book shared with People, Omid said: “The Sussexes had no idea that Buckingham Palace was already planning the Queen’s final hours and the first days of the monarchy’s new era – even the Duke’s phone started ringing. touch. An unknown number. He generally ignored them.”
In September 2022, the couple visited the UK for some engagements. However, midway through the trip, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen had been advised by her doctors to rest.
On the 8th of the same month, she passed away. Harry would only have been informed because Meghan asked him to answer the call “just before it stopped”. It was then that Charles, about to become king, asked him to go to Scotland, where other members of the Royal Family were already there.
“Harry hadn’t spoken much to his father that year, but this was not the time for any tension between father and son. Charles told him that he and Camilla were about to leave Dumfries House and go to Balmoral, where Princess Anne was already at the Queen’s side. He told Harry to go to Scotland immediately,” Omid wrote.
Amidst the organizations for the queen’s farewell ceremony, Prince William would be responsible for the travel and according to the writer, he did not respond to Harry, who sent a message asking if they could travel together to Scotland. Omid claims Harry and Meghan were left “operating in the dark”.
William even managed to get a flight with his uncles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Meanwhile, in the book “Endgame”, Omid cites a source who revealed that it was “disturbing” to see Harry “completely alone in this”.
Harry told about his grandmother’s death in his book “Spare”, that he officially learned the news on the BCC website. On the way to Balmoral, he received a call from his wife. “When the plane started to descend, I saw that my phone lit up. It was a message from Meg: ‘Call me when you get this.’ I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was king,” wrote the prince.
