Prince Harry: “Quit your job if it doesn’t give you joy”

Prince Harry has no doubts: if something doesn’t feel good, you have to eliminate it from your life, just like he – with due proportions – did with his royal commitments. This is the summary of a question and answer with Fast Company Magazine, as part of his work for BetterUp, a Silicon Valley life coaching startup focused on mental health.

Since March 2021, Harry has been involved in the charitable activities of the Californian company BetterUp.

The prince, who has been in charge of the company’s charitable initiatives since last March, intervened in a debate on work and in particular on the many resignations that came during the period of the pandemic. “They haven’t all been negative,” said Harry. “It’s a sign that with self-awareness comes the need for change.” Awareness that leads to making important decisions. “Many people, worldwide, have been stuck in jobs that have not brought them joy, e now they put their mental health and happiness first. This is something to celebrate ».

For Prince Harry, however, it was not all about the pandemic, it was a process that had already begun, although not in an obvious way. “These struggles and these problems have been brewing for some time. We are only at the beginning of the awakening of mental health. This work has never been more important because people are finally paying attention, and a big component of this mission is to create awareness and continue to pioneer the conversation ».

Harry and his wife Meghan from 2020 are no longer “senior royals”, that is, they no longer work for the Windsor house.

That the prince also speaks from personal experience is beyond doubt. Harry in the last few years has always been clear about his mental problems, come on youthful anxieties, triggered by the untimely death of Lady Diana, to those as an adult, from the fear for the health of his wife, persecuted by the media like the mother, to the duties of a role not very similar to an informal character.

Meeting Meghan Markle may have been truly saving. Easy to see the Duchess in the role of the villain, the ideal antagonist of the always perfect Kate Middleton. But perhaps, far from London, Harry has really found his happiness.
