Prince Harry says he wants “reconciliation” with royal family

This Friday (2), Prince Harry told the British BBC network that he would “love reconciliation” with the royal family. In the interview, Harry also said he is “devastated” after losing a lawsuit against the British government, which prevents him from receiving public police protection.

The prince also noted that he lost contact with his father because of the process.

“I would love to reconcile with my family,” said Harry. “Life is precious. I don’t know how long my father still has. He doesn’t talk to me because of this security issue, but it would be good to reconcile.”

Family prevented from traveling

Harry told BBC that it is “impossible to take the family back to the UK safely” because of the government’s lack of security. In this way, the prince needs to fund his own pocket a private security team for every time he needs to go to the country.

Loss of public police protection in the United Kingdom

Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, tried unsuccessfully to nullify a decision from the Interior Ministry – responsible for policing – which he decided in 2020 that he would not automatically receive police protection in the United Kingdom. He lost this right after he renounced the royal family functions in the same year.

In this way, the prince needs to fund his own pocket a private security team for every time he needs to go to the country.

Personal security is a deeply personal issue for Prince Harry, who has repeatedly revealed fears for his family’s safety over the years.

He had already expressed the desire to return to the United Kingdom more often, stating to the Supreme Court in December 2023 that the United Kingdom is “fundamental to the inheritance of my children” and that they want them to “feel at home” in the United Kingdom as much as in the United States.
