On Friday (2), Prince Harry said it is “impossible to take the family back to the UK in security” after losing a lawsuit against the British government that prevents him from receiving public police protection. He lost this right after he renounced the royal family functions.
Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, tried unsuccessfully to nullify a decision from the Interior Ministry – responsible for policing – which he decided in 2020 that he would not automatically receive police protection in the United Kingdom. In this way, the prince needs to fund his own pocket a private security team for every time he needs to go to the country.
The prince told the British network BBC that he was “quite devastated by the decision” and added, “We thought things would happen our way.”
Prince Harry said British Prime Minister Keir Stmerer, or Interior Minister Yvette Cooper, should intervene to review security agreements.
“I would ask the Prime Minister to intervene. I would ask Yvette Cooper, the interior minister, to analyze this very, very carefully,” the prince told the BBC.
