Prince Harry’s (really) tender moment with fire evacuees

The Prince Harry And Meghan Markle they traveled to Pasadena to join the fire relief efforts led by their friend José Andrés and its organization, World Central Kitchen. While visiting the Pasadena City Center, they met with the city’s mayor, Victor Gordoand spoke to people hosted at the evacuation site. Subsequently, Gordo told the Pasadena Star-News a particular episode, in which Harry stood out for an extraordinary gesture of help.

According to the mayor’s account, Harry approached a bedridden elderly man and asked him if he wanted anything from the food carts they had available. “The gentleman said, ‘I would like a donut,’” Gordo said. “And Harry said, ‘There’s no donuts here, but I’ll find one.’ He left and returned ten minutes later with a donut. The gentleman looked up and said, “I think I need carbs and sugar.” That gentleman is at the convention center tonight and doesn’t know that it was Prince Harry who brought him that donut.”

Apparently the man did not know the son of King Charles III and Princess Diana, but noted that Harry has the charisma of a politician. According to Gordo, the man told Harry: “If you ever ran, I would vote for you.”

Although Harry and Meghan’s home in Santa Barbara has not been affected by the fires so far, a source told Vanity Fair that the couple opened their home to friends forced to evacuate and made donations to charities, including World Central Kitchenthrough theirs Archewell Foundation. All eight episodes of Archewell Productions’ new lifestyle show on Netflix, With Love, Meghanwere originally scheduled for Wednesday, but were postponed to March 4 due to the fires.

Meghan explained the delay in a statement to Netflix’s Tudum site. “I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in postponing the launch, allowing us to focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California,” it reads.
