In a successful surgery for a pre-existing heart condition he underwent the Prince Philip, as announced today by Buckingham Palace.
Queen Elizabeth’s 99-year-old husband will remain in hospital for treatment, rest and recovery for a number of days, the statement said, according to Reuters.
Prince Philip was admitted to hospital on February 16 as he felt unwell for treatment for an unexplained infection, but it is not related to COVID-19.
In particular, Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to King Edward VII Private Hospital two weeks ago for treatment for an unspecified, non-COVID-19-related infection. He was taken to St Bartholomew’s Hospital last Monday for further treatment and follow-up.
Prince Philip turns 100 next June. He was born in 1921 in Greece, before his family was exiled from the country when he was an infant. His original title was “Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark”, but after his engagement to Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom he was anointed “Duke of Edinburgh”.
