Prince Philip was operated on his heart: “The operation was perfectly successful”

New rumors about the health conditions of the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth.

The 99-year-old, hospitalized for a few days at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, on Wednesday 3 March he underwent surgery to solve a “pre-existing problem” in the heart, which was “perfectly” successful. So we read in a brief statement from Buckingham Palace, which also confirms that Philip “will remain in the hospital for treatment, rest and convalescence.”

No further information has been disclosed on the nature of the prince’s problems, who for some weeks has been holding the British and the royal family in suspense. Queen Elizabeth’s husband, at first, was hospitalized at King Edwards VII’s Hospital, “a precautionary measure”, it was said at the beginning, caused by an unspecified infection, but probably not linked to the Coronavirus, also because both he and his wife were vaccinated.

Filippo had arrived at the hospital by car and did not need assistance, but then the situation had begun to cause concern: the tears of his son Carlo, who had visited him at the end of February, did not bode well, so much so that the tabloids had already focused on the funeral and on the provisions given by Filippo himself for a low profile ceremony.

The transfer to another hospital had not gone unnoticed, but the first reassurances about his condition soon arrived: “My grandfather is fine”, Prince William said at a recent public event, and also Camilla, Carlo’s wife, later confirmed hopefully, during a visit to a vaccination center: “His condition is improving, fingers crossed.”

In the last few days, no family members have visited him, and this too seems to be a positive sign. The queen remains in Windsor, the safest place in London due to the Covid-19 emergency. They will meet again soon, when all is over.
