No coffee, the kids are enough to keep him awake. Effectively, Prince William recounting his daily eating habits transforms a bit into all of us, parents who avoid too much caffeine to calm their nerves while chasing crazed children. The little princes George, Charlotte and Louis – revealed the Prince of Wales during a trip to Cornwall – are more than enough excitement to get through the day.
William talked about what he eats on a typical day during his first official visit to Cornwall as Duke of the County, a role he assumed following the succession of his father, King Charles III. In particular, the place chosen for the confession was not accidental: William was in fact visiting the Newquay Orcharda place – built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall – which is also in charge of environmental education and dissemination of good food, with a luxuriant orchard and the direct sale of organic products. The Prince of Wales’ diet seems very similar to that of many other working parents (of course, if you don’t count the precautions and privileges granted to a member of the royal family, but that’s another story).
Certainly, however, many British felt similar to Prince William when he listed to the nutritionist Monique Hylan what he had consumed the previous day, starting with breakfast, which could only be a high-calorie and abundant «English breakfast», with eggs and toasted wholemeal bread. Then – continued the King’s eldest son – for lunch he had a quick “junk, awful looking” sandwich before dining on white fish and mushrooms.
No coffee – specified the Duke of Cornwall – but well three cups of tea a day, like a perfect Briton. Every now and then, a snack breaks hunger if even the Prince allows it: nothing excessively greedy, but only a banana, or at most a chocolate chip cookie. And more or less a glass of red wine a day, although this habit does not do much honor to the passion of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, for Gin and Dubonnet. William finally confessed that he is trying to reduce sugar in his daily life.
“William was very interested in learning about the work we do”, commented Mr. Berkeley, administrator of the estate, saying he was “really very proud” of Prince William’s visit, who in this way wanted to underline his support for the projects that before he cared about his father, those related to agriculture and healthy food.
