Prince William is “surprised and jealous of the success of Harry's Invictus Games”

Prince William is «surprised and jealous of the success of the Invictus Game of his brother Harry». This is what the British journalist thinks Robert Jobsonwho expressed his opinion in the ABC News special Prince Harry's Mission: Life, Family and Invictus Games. Harry created in 2014 sports games for soldiers wounded and maimed in combat. And now, waiting for the 2025 edition, with his wife Meghan Markle he has just participated, together with the athletes, in three days of training.

According to Jobson for the Duke of Sussex – who before losing his military titles (due to Megxit) served the English army for about a decade – «The Invictus they are my number one passion». A passion that would be indigestible for the older brother: «William would never have imagined that his brother's project would be so successful, moving a lot of money and involving many countries». Especially since nothing has changed since Harry and Meghan said goodbye to the royal family in 2020: «The Invictus Game they cost a lot. And even in recent years Harry has managed to raise an impressive amount of money.”

The Invictus Game they can no longer count on the support of the royal family, which has ignored the event since 2020. «Harry is no longer a working royal», royal expert Victoria Murphy told the ABC, «so the Invictus are no longer under the umbrella of the organizations of which the Crown is officially a part». Yet they continue to work. And this, according to Jobson, wouldn't go down well with William. A thesis that seems to follow the one supported by Harry in the bomb book Spare. In the memorial the duke claims that his older brother has always been jealous of his project: «When I told him about it, William seemed extremely irritated». On the other hand in Spare Harry has repeatedly put down William's alleged jealousy towards him (and even towards the beard that he was able to show off at his wedding with Markle).

By now Harry and William are increasingly distant. Not even dad Carlo's cancer was able to bring the knife-brothers closer together. During the Duke's recent lightning visit to London, there was no contact between the two. The Duke of Sussex, however, seems optimistic: «Illness can bring a family closer together», he told the cameras Good Morning America which followed the preparation for the 2025 edition of Invictus Game. While waiting for the feud to be resolved, the war veterans' Olympics to date seem to be Harry's greatest success after his rift with the royal family. However, a success that the prince was unable to replicate on TV: the Netflix documentary Heart of Invictusas we know, was a real flop.
