Prince William was tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year

The Duke of Cambridge had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year.

It was reported by The Sun newspaper, on Monday, that the prince was tested positive for Corona virus in April, not long after his father got sick due to the virus in March. However, the news was not revealed publicly as the prince did not want the public to stress over this.

As per the Sun news, William shared that he contracted Covid while conversing with somebody at a public engagement. A source told the paper, “William was hit quite hard by the virus … it really knocked him for six.”

At one phase, it got pretty difficult for him to breathe, which worried everyone around him, the source told.

The prince was attended by his doctors at Anmer Hall, his country house, where he isolated when the pandemic began. William was not required to go to the hospital and neither his wife, Kate Middleton, nor their children, Prince Louis, 2, Princess Charlotte, 5, Prince George, 7, contracted the illness.

However, it was not long after the news of Charles being tested positive for the virus broke out that the Duke of Cambridge was also diagnosed with the virus, and hence the prince decided to keep the news of his illness confidential, in order to avoid alarming the nation.

At the time, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall tested negative for Covid and self-isolated for 14 days.

As the virus began to spread in the United Kingdom back in April, Queen Elizabeth addressed the nation acknowledging the financial difficulties and grief Britons were facing due to the pandemic. She thanked everyone at the NHS frontline and the care workers who were carrying out essential roles amid the crisis.

At the time, William’s official engagements were attended via video calls, however there was a break in his public engagements between the second and third week of April, after which the prince re-appeared for public engagements (taking place through video calls) for the opening of one of the nation’s emergency field hospital. William reportedly took 14 video and telephones call engagements during the month of April.

The prince also went on to acknowledge and praise that the doctors and other health workers were playing in saving the lives of millions of people that had been affected by the virus.

According to Johns Hopkins University; with more than a million coronavirus cases, the UK is one of Europe’s worst hit countries. It was reported by Johnson on Saturday that in the coming days England would enter a second national lockdown, as it was estimated by the Office for National Statistics that 1 in 100 people in England now have COVID-19.
