Prince William’s godmother has gathered to offer her sincere apologies to a woman for comments she made about her race and nationality at an official royal reception last month, Buckingham Palace said on Friday.
Susan Hussey left her post at the British royal family home after repeatedly asking Ngozi Fulani, who was born in the UK and works for a domestic violence support group, where she was from.
“Lady Susan pledged to deepen her awareness of the sensitivities involved and welcomes the opportunity to learn more about the issues in this area,” the palace said in a statement.
“The Fulani lady, who has unjustly received the most appalling torrent of abuse on social media and elsewhere, accepts this apology and acknowledges that no malice was intended.”
