Princess Diana: Charles’s quarrel with his mother shortly after the death of his ex-wife

The tragic death of Princess Diana exactly 24 years ago shocked the world and shocked the British royal family. It was of course not as difficult and painful for anyone as it was for her two sons, Princes William and Harry.

The family was staying with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in Balmoral that day and the prince Charles undertook the difficult task of informing his two sons of their mother’s death.

Charles had divorced her Diana the previous year after their painful separation. When he found out about the death of his ex-wife, he allegedly “completely collapsed”, according to the British Mirror.

Reports indicate that there were disagreements behind the walls of the palace about the moves that would be made in the days after the death of Princess Diana. In fact, Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth reportedly quarreled over how Diana would return to Britain.

Charles wanted to travel to the French capital by royal plane to bring back her body, something the queen initially did not allow.

Journalist and Diana’s friend Richard Kay said in the Channel 5 documentary, “Diana: 7 Days That Shook the Windsors”: “It was a brave move that came as a surprise. Charles wanted to take the royal plane but the queen would not allow it.

“Charles fought hard for Diana, such as he had never fought for her in his lifetime.”

Prince Charles refused to back down and the Queen eventually gave him permission to use the Royal Aircraft to bring Diana’s body back to the United Kingdom.

So he flew to Paris with his ex-wife’s sisters and went to the hospital where Diana had died.

Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Barrell, was already in the hospital with some of her staff. “He was devastated. “She was a woman he had loved in his own way,” he said.
