After former Minister of Education Milton Ribeiro was preventively arrested in Santos, his allies informed the CNN that he received R$ 50 thousand in his bank account deposited by Pastor Gilmar Santos, one of those investigated by the Federal Police for an alleged corruption scheme in the folder. Santos was also arrested in the operation, in addition to Pastor Arilton Moura. Ribeiro’s lawyer, Daniel Bialski, said he did not know precisely the amount of the deposit, but confirmed that there was, yes, a financial transaction between the pastor and the minister while he was in office and that it occurred as a result of the sale of a car, a Ecosport, which belonged to the minister’s wife.
Bolsonaro reverberates in prison
President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spoke, in an interview with Itatiaia radio, about the arrest of former Minister of Education Milton Ribeiro. “Milton’s case, as far as I’m aware, is the question he was having, he would be talking a little too informally with some of his trusted people. And then there was a complaint that he would have sought out the mayor, his people to negotiate, to release funds, this and that. And what happened? We pushed him away. If he’s in prison, it’s the Federal Police. It is a sign that the Federal Police is acting,” he said.
The Ministry of Education (MEC) also positioned itself in relation to the arrest, saying that it “does not condone any irregular act”. In a clarification note, the Ministry stated that it received, this Wednesday (22), a team from the Federal Police “to continue collaborating with all investigation instances involving the previous management of the portfolio”.
“Trucker Voucher”
Sources from the economic team confirmed to the CNN that the “truck voucher” can reach R$ 1,000 per month for six months. There is still no estimate of the total value, but it exceeds R$ 4 billion. The hammer is not yet beaten, because technicians are looking for new sources of funds. The initial estimate was that it would be R$ 400 – a value similar to Auxilio Brasil. The voucher is a subsidy to truck drivers to compensate for the sharp rise in diesel prices.
