Pro-government rallies bring together crowds in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília

After months of mobilization for the September 7 events, pro-government acts took crowds to the streets of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília, on the day that celebrates 200 years of Brazilian Independence.

On Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, a crowd filled the street with the colors of the national flag. President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) did not go there. It was considered the exhibition of a video of the representative, but this did not happen until the end of the afternoon of this Wednesday.

In Rio de Janeiro, the president’s supporters are concentrated on the Copacabana waterfront. Bolsonaro, who attended the event, was on stage alongside the governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro (PL).

The reelection candidate also took part in a motorcycle ride through the streets of Rio de Janeiro, while heading to Copacabana beach.

In a speech to supporters gathered in Rio de Janeiro, Bolsonaro mentioned his main opponent in the dispute for Planalto, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

“Compare Brazil with the countries of South America. Compare with Venezuela. Compare with what is happening in Argentina and compare with Nicaragua. What do these countries have in common? All are friends with each other. All the heads of state of these nations are friends with the nine-fingered gang member who is running for election in Brazil. It’s not just going back to the crime scene. These kind of people have to be extirpated from public life,” said the president.

Before going to the capital of Rio de Janeiro, Bolsonaro participated in the civic parade in Brasília, still during the morning of this Wednesday.

Bolsonaro left the Palácio da Alvorada in the open car, crossed the Esplanada dos Ministérios and positioned himself on stage next to the vice president, Hamilton Mourão, his children, the first lady, the president of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and supporters and ministers.
