The São Paulo Procon notified the airlines Azul, Gol and Latam to explain the increase applied to checked baggage. The response from the companies must be sent to the agency by April 12.
According to the agency, companies will have to explain the items that make up the value of the baggage dispatch fee and which of them will be charged to the consumer. These items must be itemized individually.
Procon also asks for information about the administrative cost and transport cost that will suffer the application of the increase.
Sought by Agência Brasil, Azul informed that, when it receives the notification from Procon, “it will provide the necessary clarifications”. Latam and Gol have not yet commented on the notification from the consumer protection agency.
Increase
The three companies readjusted the values of luggage transport for domestic and international flights. At Gol, the new tariffs came into force last Tuesday (5). At Latam, the adjustment has been in effect since March 14th. At Azul, the new value has been in effect for a month.
To check baggage on a Gol flight, the passenger will have to pay at least R$ 95. According to the company, the increase is due “to the current scenario of increased costs in commercial aviation, and also as a way of adapting to the values charged by the airline. Marketplace”. At Azul, the fare went from R$80 to R$90 on domestic flights. In Latam, the minimum amount is now R$75.
