The chlor-alkali industry projects growth of 20% in production this year, compared to last year.
A data that corroborates this estimate of production improvement this year is energy consumption by industrial plants, which grew 14.9% in the first half, according to a recent survey by the Electric Energy Commercialization Chamber (CCEE).
“Many of our plants use energy produced by renewable sources and which are not included in the CCEE data, so the increase in production should be in the range of 20% or a little more”, says Milton Rego, president of the Brazilian Association of the Industry of Alkalis, Chlorine and Derivatives (Abiclor).
The chlor-alkali industry is recovering to 2018 pre-pandemic levels.
With the return of production from plants that were paralyzed, the rate of use of installed capacity returned to above 80%, after the industry recorded an average rate of 65.9% in 2021.
