Production of iPhone and other Apple equipment at the Foxconn plant partially resumed in a “closed cycle management” system

Foxconn, one of Apple’s key partners, has resumed production at its Shenzhen, China site. This happened after the partial lifting of the regime of self-isolation in the region.

The Taiwanese company told Reuters that Foxconn has resumed operations on a limited basis. In order to reopen the facility, the company has complied with all government conditions, as well as providing staff with a place to live and work. In other words, the company has created a “closed loop management” system. A similar system was adopted for the Winter Olympic Games held in Beijing.

Apple’s supplier said in a statement that “some operations have been able to resume and some production is underway. This process, which can only be performed on campuses that include both employee housing and manufacturing facilities, is in line with the strict industry regulations and closed-loop management policies issued by the Shenzhen government.” It is currently unknown which Apple products Foxconn manufactures at its two factories in Shenzhen. But it is known that Foxconn is the largest assembler of iPhone smartphones.

Sources confirmed that plant closures have caused delivery delays and logistical difficulties have made it difficult to deliver products to customers around the world. The company had previously halted iPhone production due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
