Protests in Barcelona over the closure of bars and restaurants imposed by the Generalitat

Hundreds of people have concentrated this noon in Barcelona’s Sant Jaume square to demonstrate in protest of the closures imposed by the Govern in the catering sector, to which the nightlife sector has joined, to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

The concentration by the nightlife sector has begun at 11.30 hours in the Plaza de la Catedral de Barcelona, where they have made banners and moved along Via Laietana, cutting off traffic in their path, to Sant Jaume Square, where representatives of the catering sector have concentrated, europa Press reports.

The protesters, most with masks, have concentrated at 12 a.m. in the square and, among other slogans, shouted, “No to closures” and “Govern resignation.” This Friday the closure of the bars and restaurants in Catalonia has come into force for 15 days.
