Protests in Italy: “A certain policy must stop justifying violence,” Meloni said

The Italian Prime Minister, referring to the student demonstrations organized in thirty cities of the country, emphasized that “today we also watched unacceptable scenes of violence that unfolded in some squares, at the initiative of some violent elements after the slogans against her government’s education policy, in migratory and in the middle east. The Italian Prime Minister expressed “her undivided solidarity with the police officers who were injured” and wished them “a speedy recovery of their health”. “I hope that a certain policy will stop defending or justifying this violence, and will unequivocally condemn such serious and unacceptable events,” concluded Meloni. For their part, after the demonstrations in which there was tension with the police – mainly in Turin – the Italian student and student organizations made it known that “the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara refused to meet them” and that he “showed indifference towards the demands of the young that filled the squares of the whole country”.
