Proved oil reserves in Brazil grow 11% in 2021, says ANP

Brazil recorded an 11% increase in proved oil reserves in 2021, compared to the previous year, according to the Annual Bulletin of Resources and Reserves released by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The volume reached 13.24 billion barrels.

In the pre-salt, there was a 15.7% increase in proved reserves compared to 2020, totaling 9.621 billion barrels.

According to the ANP, there was also an increase of 14.3% in the volume related to the sum of proved and probable reserves (2P), and of 19.8% in the sum of proved, probable and possible (3P), compared to data from 2020

The companies contracted for exploration and production in Brazil declared 13.24 billion barrels of oil of proved reserves (1P), 19.95 billion barrels of proved + probable reserves (2P) and 24.24 billion barrels of reserves proved + probable + possible (3P).

Proved natural gas reserves reached 378.65 billion cubic meters in 2021, up 11.7% compared to 2020, while proved + probable reserves (2P) reached 491.92 billion m3, or 20, 3% more than the previous year, and proved + probable + possible (3P) reserves totaled 560.40 billion m3, up 24% in one year.

According to the ANP, this year the highlight in the increase in reserves was the inclusion of volumes referring to the surplus from the Transfer of Rights of Campos de Búzios and Itapu, informed the ANP.
