The Biden government is not lobbying against the Uighur forced labor law, which is expected to be passed by the House of Representatives, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said today.
The bill, which will ban imports from China’s Xinjiang region amid concerns about forced labor, will be considered next week, the bill’s rapporteur, Sen. Jim McGovern, told reporters on Thursday.
In a statement, Psaki responded to a Washington Post report that the Biden administration was telling lawmakers to slow down the bill as the White House takes a more targeted approach, including support from other countries.
