The PSDB, MDB and União Brasil summits will meet on Tuesday night (15) to negotiate the formation of a possible party federation. This will be the first formal meeting to discuss the possibility of uniting around a single-name candidacy in this year’s presidential election. The information is from the policy analyst at CNN Renata Agostini.
The president of the newly created, after authorization from the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) União Brasil, federal deputy Luciano Bivar (PE), even told the CNN which is close to formalizing a federation with the MDB.
União Brasil is the result of the merger between PSL and DEM. The new party is the largest in the National Congress, with 81 deputies and seven senators. The acronym also has three governors (Goiás, Mato Grosso and Rondônia).
However, the formation of a federation faces some resistance. Bivar’s allies say the politician has advocated the creation of just one bloc. In this way, the ties present in a party federation would not be necessary and there would be an agreement for the three parties to support a single candidate for the Planalto.
The possibility of a block suffers less regional resistance from the subtitle directories, since, unlike a federation, the acronyms would not need to act as if they were just one.
Although the discussions between the parties are advanced and the idea of consolidating a federation is attracting the leaders of the acronyms, the effective implementation of an agreement is something more complex.
