PSDB pre-candidates debate on CNN, 3rd dose of vaccine in SP and over November 18

The debate of pre-candidates of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) promoted by CNN, the percentage of vaccinated against Covid-19 in Brazil, which exceeds the United States, and the expansion of the third dose in São Paulo are some of the highlights of this Thursday morning (18th).

CNN elections 2022

A CNN it promoted a debate among PSDB pre-candidates for the presidency of the republic. The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, stated that he will remain in the party even if he is not chosen as a candidate. The governor of São Paulo, João Doria, said he would accept to form a third-way candidacy, one that is not linked to President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) nor to former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The former mayor of Manaus and former senator, Arthur Virgílio, on the other hand, ruled out the possibility of the previous splitting the PSDB.

Vaccination

Brazil surpassed the United States in the percentage of the population fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to data collected by the agency CNN. In all, 59.06% of Brazilians are fully immunized, against 58.9% of Americans.

3rd dose

The city of São Paulo begins this Thursday (18) to apply the booster dose to the population over 18 years of age. According to a CNN survey, seven other capitals have already started to vaccinate with the booster dose: Porto Alegre, Goiânia, Campo Grande, Maceió, São Luís, Belém and Palmas.

Census 2022

The Federal Public Ministry opened a preliminary investigation to investigate the suspicion that the questions to identify the LGBTQIA+ community have been excluded from the 2022 Census. The fields “gender identification” and “sexual orientation” would not have been included in the survey carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

According to the analysis of the analyst at CNN, Caio Junqueira, the National Congress is going to set up a mixed commission of deputies and senators to investigate the massive dismissal requests of employees of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep), responsible for the National Secondary Education Examination (Enem). The dismissed civil servants will be called to give statements, as well as the Minister of Comptroller General of the Union, Wagner Rosário.
