Psychologist Bruna Nunes de Faria, aged 27, died on December 21 during MRI in a private clinic in Goiânia.
The report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML), which will point out the cause of death , should be released early next week, according to the victim’s relatives. Bruna died on the morning of the 21st of December after becoming ill with her receive the contrast to perform a magnetic resonance imaging in a clinic in Goiânia (GO).
The patient had suffered an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (CVA) during a CrossFit training on November 11th. She even lost her speech, but recovered from the sequels afterwards. The examination was even interrupted for the medical team to provide first aid. Also according to family members, the clinical staff did not follow the first-aid protocols recommended by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and also did not intubate the patient. Jane says that, upon realizing the seriousness of the situation, she tried to take her daughter to a hospital located opposite the clinic where they were, but transport was not authorized by the doctors, who opted to wait for an ambulance.
In an internal report, prepared by the clinic’s middle staff, the team reports that Bruna had a cardiorespiratory arrest and that resuscitation maneuvers were performed, administration of adrenaline vials and the orotracheal intubation procedure, which the patient’s mother claims did not happen . The document also points out that the victim died about 40 minutes after reporting the malaise, at 10:09 am on December 21.
In a note signed by their medical coordinators, Clínicas CDI clarifies that Bruna Nunes de Faria was not seen by them, but by the team at the Centro de Psicologia por Imagem Portugal, located at the same address. According to doctors, the process of separation of properties is ongoing. The CDI Clinics also regretted what happened and wanted the cause of death to be clarified quickly and effectively by Organs competent bodies.
The CDI clinic, responsible for the procedure, said in a statement that it regrets the fatality and that the contrast for imaging tests used in the care is safe.
