PT appeal against Moro for electoral domicile in SP will be judged this Tuesday (7)

The Regional Electoral Court of the State of São Paulo (TRE-SP) judges, this Tuesday (7), the PT’s appeal against the decision that approved the request for transfer of electoral domicile of former judge and former minister Sergio Moro from Curitiba to the capital of São Paulo.

Moro requested the transfer on March 30. It was approved by the 5th Electoral Zone – Jardim Paulista, west of São Paulo.

The PT argues that Sergio Moro has indicated he resides in a hotel in the capital, “has no ties to the state of São Paulo, nor to the city” and that the transfer does not have the objective “only of exercising citizenship, but of being a candidate. to the 2022 election”.

The ex-judge’s name is considered as a candidate for the Senate by São Paulo in the this year’s elections . His defense refers to “flexibility in the right to choose a home” and alleges that there are professional, political and community ties with the state.

He also says that Moro has a political base in São Paulo, received honors in the state and worked in the city for an American consultancy.

The court is composed of seven judges and is presided over by judge Paulo Galizia. The plenary session starts at 3 pm and can be followed by the TRE YouTube channel.

According to the electoral legislation, “for the purpose of establishing the electoral domicile in the enlistment and transference, the existence of a residential, affective, family, professional, community or other bond that justifies the choice of municipality must be proven”.
