PT defends repealing labor reform and spending cap in preview of government guidelines

In a document sent this Monday (6th) to allied parties, the coordination of the pre-campaign of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) presented preliminary guidelines for the elaboration of a future program of government.

The government program outline presents 90 economic and social guidelines. Among them, the defense of the repeal of the labor reform, approved during the government of then President Michel Temer.

The PT suggests replacing it with a tripartite negotiation model, with the participation of businessmen, employers and government representatives.

The PT’s suggestion is that, according to them, “rights should be restored, unions strengthened without the return of union tax, build a new collective bargaining system and pay special attention to informal and app workers”.

When citing the tax reform, PT advocates taxing income on very rich people from the creation of a “solidarity tax reform”.

In another point, the document defends the repeal of the spending ceiling. The PT’s justification is that, in this way, it will be possible to include the poor and workers in the budget again.

“For this, it is necessary to revoke the spending ceiling and review the current Brazilian tax regime, which is dysfunctional and has totally lost its credibility”, says the document.

The privatizations sought by the government of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) are also the target of criticism. In the midst of a privatization process, Eletrobras, according to the document, has to be preserved as a “people’s heritage” to enable social programs such as Luz para Todos, created during Lula’s first term in 2003.

Petrobras is also mentioned, with emphasis on Pré-Sal Petróleo SA – PPSA.

“Petrobras will once again be at the service of the Brazilian people and not the large foreign shareholders, expanding our capacity to produce the oil derivatives needed by the Brazilian people, expanding the supply of natural gas and integration with petrochemicals, fertilizers and biofuels. ”, says PT.

The party also reinforces its opposition to the privatization of Correios and suggests the valorization of public banks, such as Banco do Brasil, Caixa Econômica Federal and BNDES.

The previous version of the document prepared by Lula’s campaign will still be sent to the analysis of the parties that make up the leftist front “Vamos Juntos pelo Brasil” and have until Thursday (9) to present changes or suggest exclusion and inclusion of new proposals to the document.
