PT do Rio gives PSB ultimatum and threatens to leave Freixo’s ticket

The president of the PT in Rio de Janeiro, João Maurício, said that the party will leave the ticket of federal deputy Marcelo Freixo (PSB) to the government of Rio if the party insists on launching Alessandro Molon in the Senate.

The speech comes at a time when the PSD, run by the mayor of Rio Eduardo Paes, is negotiating the assembly of a second platform for former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, such as the CNN revealed last Tuesday (21).

The PT launched the president of the Legislative Assembly of Rio, state deputy André Ceciliano, as a pre-candidate for the Senate.

And the PSB works for Alessandro Molon to run for the same post, in one of the imbroglios of the alliance between the two parties.

The national directorates set the 30th of May as the date for the issue to be resolved. As it was not, the president of the PT from Rio de Janeiro states that the agreement for the PT to support Freixo will be undone if Molon does not give up his candidacy.

“The PT will not accept two senators on the same ticket. Either they comply with the agreement made nationally, or we will not go with Freixo,” he said.

The report sought out members of the PSB, who minimized the possibility of the agreement with the PT being undone. They believe, therefore, that former President Lula will be with Freixo.

The PT member and the federal deputy have already met several times in Rio de Janeiro, and there is a forecast of a joint agenda for the two in early July.
