Public did not boo Bolsonaro at Gusttavo Lima show in Aracaju

False: The video that shows Gusttavo Lima’s show with the audio of the audience cursing the president and reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is false. Previously published recordings, at the time of the show, in May, show the original audio, of the audience cheering the singer. The artist’s press office stated that the verified post is a lie.

Investigated Content: Video on TikTok shows the singer Gusttavo Lima in a show while the audience shouts “Hey, Bolsonaro, go take the c*”. It is possible to read in the play the following sentences: “The singer had three shows canceled in Bahia”, “will support genocidal taker of workers’ rights” and marks the location as being in Aracaju, “Brazil”.

where it was published: TikTok.

Completion of Proof: It is false that the audience at a concert by singer Gusttavo Lima in Aracaju, on May 28, shouted “Hey, Bolsonaro, will you take the c*”, addressing president and reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL). A viral post on TikTok with the caption “kkkk will support genocidal, workers’ rights taker” uses real footage from a performance by the artist, but edits the audio to make it sound like the public rallied against the politician.

On YouTube, the report found other videos of this show and, comparing with the same excerpt published on TikTok, it is possible to verify that the public was, in fact, applauding the countryman.

Sought, the singer’s press office stated that the video is edited and that “this never happened in any of his shows”.

The post verified here still misinforms by publishing that Gusttavo Lima had three shows canceled in Bahia, relating this to the fact that the singer declared support for Bolsonaro. About this, the artist’s team reported that “this is fake news” and “that there was no cancellation of shows in any state”.

How do we check: The report did a search for the keywords “Gusttavo Lima”, “three canceled concerts Gusttavo Lima”, “Buteco Aracaju”. From records of the show on YouTube and a post by Official Twitter page of the Buteco Festivalfrom the production of Lima, we were able to compare the original audio with the video investigated in this verification.

The singer’s advice was contacted by email.

There were no shouts against Bolsonaro

The video used in the checked post was recorded on May 28, 2022, in Aracaju. Initially, the show “Buteco do Gusttavo Lima” would be held in May 2020, however, due to the pandemic, it had to be rescheduled.

The report was able to confirm that it was the presentation held in May in the Sergipe capital by comparing the images of the fake post with videos on YouTube and on the page @OficialButeco on Twitter. Gusttavo Lima wears the same blue jacket and makes the same gestures. In addition, the location – Aracaju, Brazil (in English) – also appears on YouTube in a video published more than four months ago.

In the videos published before the verified post, the public cheers Lima, who thanks him.

Singer denies that shows in Bahia were canceled

The video misinforms by stating that three concerts by Lima were canceled in Bahia, suggesting that this would be related to the fact that the singer declared support for Bolsonaro. After the post went viral, vehicles like Goiás diary and Mail published texts denying the cancellation.

Sought by Comprova, the singer’s advice sent a “disclaimer to fake news“, in which he says that the content is a lie. The team claims that after the announcement of Lima’s support for Bolsonaro, “there was no cancellation of shows in any state”.

Support for Bolsonaro

On October 17, Gusttavo Lima and the country singer Leonardo met with Bolsonaro at Palácio da Alvorada and declared their support for him in the presidential race.

“I am sure that every good citizen will not give up either and will never negotiate for his family, his most precious asset. A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. We will not trade the right for the dubious. Here is my full support for our president Jair Messias Bolsonaro”, said the artist at the time.

Other content involving the election was checked by Comprova, such as the one who lied when saying the TSE application does not allow complaints against PT and the also false one that said that Janja and a singer would have incited Bolsonaro’s death in music and that the player Vini Jr criticized the president on Twitter.
