Public: Home appliances and innovative services in more stores

The adoption of the new store format, which includes home appliances and innovative services, is proceeding rapidly with Public, something that has already started to be implemented since 2021. This event follows the acquisition of 98% of the consortium Public- MediaMarkt in Greece and Cyprus and the investment of 50 million euros by PublicGroup. The strategic goal for the group at the moment is its development in the field of home appliances as well as the provision to its customers of new innovative services.

Some of the stores operate under the two brands (Pubic & MediaMarkt), such as the store in Maroussi, while gradually the small and large home appliances will be available exclusively under the Public brand. This is a move that the company says seems to be paying off. In 2022, the new image of the stores it has implemented in Greece and Cyprus will be expanded, adding to more and more Public stores home appliances in the wide range of products they offer. At the same time, innovative services are being introduced more widely in the network, such as the immediate repair of devices in the iRepair corners that already operate in the Public stores in Syntagma, in the Mall Athens, in Glyfada and in Piraeus. So Public always stays one step ahead by bringing all the products and services that customers want in one place.

In ten additional stores the small and large devices within 2022

The design for 2022 envisages the integration of home appliances in about ten Public stores, including the flagship store in Syntagma, as well as in all major stores. In the network there are ten stores that are over 2,000 sq.m. and so in them the Public Group will begin to gradually integrate home appliances. The small appliances have already joined Syntagma and Golden Hall as they fit the conceptPublic based on the most spontaneous markets, while gradually large appliances will be added to additional points of the network.

Offering a complete omnichannel experience

In addition to launching the new Public concept stores, Public Group is developing into an innovation ecosystem around the strong Public brand. The goal of Public Group is to form integrated experiences in omnichannel retailing and to promote entrepreneurship in Greece, combining new technologies with well-trained human resources. The focus of his strategy is the presentation of innovative digital interfaces, the upgrade of the online platform public.gr, the improvement of logistics with the expansion and creation of one of the largest and most modern storage centers, the upgrade of the experience in the call center. a. Already thanks to the central warehouse, over 30 thousand sq.m., of the company, Public offers for 100,000 products on public.gr the possibility of delivery the next day nationwide.

Investment of 20 million euros in scale-up companies

The group is also investing 20 million euros, which concerns investment initiatives through Public Capital Partners in scale-up companies operating in the fields of Retail Tech & eCommerce, Fintech, Logistics, Digital Payments, EdTech, as well as Entertainment & Analytics. The ultimate goal is to create an ecosystem that best complements the model of shopping experience enjoyed by Public consumers. The allocation of 20 million from Public Capital Partners will be done gradually and will be completed in 2023, depending on the needs and opportunities that will arise.
