The Campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR) in Curitiba suspended classes on Wednesday (16) due to the great fire that hit the institution last night (15).
The university said it has taken the measure for the well-being and safety of the academic community to be preserved.
“We understand that this is a moment that requires attention, care and cooperation. Therefore, we ask that everyone be aware of the official communications that will be sent in the coming days, through the PUC-PR application and by institutional email.”
“We count on everyone’s understanding so that we can resume our activities as soon as possible and ask you not to share untrue information. All information will always be published and forwarded on the PUC-PR website,” he said in a statement.
The Paraná Fire Department reported that the fire began at 6:24 pm on Tuesday (15). The university confirmed the information and clarified that there were no injuries in the occurrence.
“Due to the agility of the University Fire Brigade and the Fire Department’s performance, the flames were controlled and caused only material damage to that block, not extending to the other facilities of the institution,” says PUC-PR.
In released images it is possible to see the moment of the accident. The flames would have reached a significant part of one of the blocks.
