Pulitzer Prizes Coverage of Capitol Invasion, Pandemic and More; check winners

THE Pulitzer Prize considered the greatest in journalism, announced its winners in a virtual ceremony this Monday (9).

The 106th class of Pulitzer Prize winners in Journalism, Books, Drama and Music was announced at 4pm on a YouTube broadcast.

The awards, given since 1917, were set out in the will of influential newspaper editor Joseph Pulitzer, who died in 1911 and left money to help start a school of journalism at Columbia University and establish the winners.

The initial award began with four nominations in journalism, four in literature and theater, one in education and five in travel. Today, they typically honor 15 categories in media reporting, writing and photography, as well as seven awards in books, drama and music.

A board made up primarily of senior editors from major US media and academics presides over the judging process that determines the winners.
