It starts to take effect this Saturday (7) as it determines that gas stations display prices with only two decimal places.
Resolution No. 858/2021, of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), seeks to make the values clearer for consumers and in line with the numerical expression of the Brazilian currency.
The values must be displayed this way both on the price panel and on the fuel pump display. But in pumps, the third digit space can be filled with a zero as long as it remains locked during fueling.
The differentiation was proposed by the ANP so that fuel resellers can avoid spending on pump replacements.
The agency evaluated that the change should not change the final value of fuels, since the adoption of the measure will not bring relevant costs to resellers, nor restrictions on prices.
