All flights at Charleroi airport, which serves passengers in Brussels, Belgium’s capital, were suspended for several hours on Tuesday (13) after reports of a supposed bomb threat aboard a flight from Ryanair airline.
The flights were canceled after the police boarded a Ryanair plane from Portugal to examine the threat.
The plane landed in Charleroi, and a security perimeter was set up around the aircraft while the police investigation was taking place.
Images broadcast by Belgian TV station RTL showed police vehicles surrounding the plane on the track, while passengers were driven out of the vehicle and to a bus.
Subsequently, Charleroi’s flights were allowed.
