Aliochina said that her compatriots want change, but that many are afraid of being imprisoned if they speak openly.
“A lot of people are really scared because you can now go to jail for up to 10 years just for posting photos of Boutsa, just for this post.”
Russian officials say the new law to stop the deliberate spread of “fake” news is necessary to protect its military and combat misinformation about the military campaign in Ukraine, as Moscow calls it.
