Putin and Trump greeted themselves through advisers on the day of victory

Russian presidents Vladimir Putin and the United States Donald Trump were greeted through advisers on the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union victory and allies about Nazi Germany in World War II, Kremlin said on Friday.

“Through advisers, President Russian and President Trump exchanged congratulations on the occasion of our joint celebration,” said Yuri Ushakov, Putin foreign policy advisor to state TV channel 1.

“These were warm words, mutual congratulations for our great common celebration,” added Ushakov.

Russia celebrated the day of victory on Friday (9) with a military parade in the Red Square of Moscow, with the presence of dozens of world leaders, including China President Xi Jinping, and Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

State news agency Tass reported that Lynne Tracy, the US ambassador in Russia, was not present at the parade.

Leaders Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, from Egypt, Serbia’s Aleksandar Vucic, Nicolás Maduro, from Venezuela, and Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, were present, marking a significant improvement from last year’s guest list, limited to some delegations from post-Soviet countries, Cuba and some other countries.

Robert Fico, Prime Minister of Slovakia, a member of the European Union (EU), was also in Moscow on Friday (9).

His presence alongside Putin was particularly significant, given the hard posture of the EU against Russia for assault on Ukraine.
