Putin and XI sign a statement to deepen partnership between Russia and China

Russian President Vladimir Putin and China President Xi Jinping signed a statement on Thursday (8) to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

In a Kremlin speech after conversations with Xi, Putin stated that Russia-China relations are self-sustaining and that the two countries will continue to increase the participation of their national currencies in mutual agreements.

“Our conversations with the President of the Popular Republic of China took place in a traditionally warm, friendly and constructive atmosphere, having been very informative and productive,” said the Russian leader.

“Our common heroic past and military fraternity are a solid basis for the development and strengthening of Russian-Chinese relations,” he added. “And these relationships have reached the highest level in history.”

The Chinese president reinforced Putin’s words, stating that “China and Russia should continue to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, consolidate the material base of comprehensive strategic cooperation, continually benefit the two peoples and inject a stronger momentum into global development.”
