Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on new measures to support Russian citizens, as reported by the Russian news agency Ria Novosti.
This decree extends the powers of regional authorities and obliges them to take measures to ensure social and economic stability. In particular, the measures concern:
– increase of social benefits
targeted support to citizens in difficult financial circumstances
monitoring the prices of basic goods
ensuring the employment of the population
targeted support to businesses, including soft loans
support for non-profit organizations
The decree will enter into force on the day of its signing.
Putin noted that private companies should play a key role in tackling the current economic woes. In this context, barriers for entrepreneurs should be reduced and supply should be increased to stabilize prices.
“The West will not forgive Russia for its independent course and will try to pressure it and violate its territorial integrity, but the United States and its allies will not be able to do that,” Putin said.
“Behind the hypocritical words and actions of the so-called collective West, there are hostile geopolitical goals. They do not want a strong and sovereign Russia. They will not forgive us for our independent course, nor for defending our national interests,” he said.
