Putin denies he wants to deploy nukes in space

The Russian president Vladimir Putin stated today that he is in favor against the development of nuclear weapons in space and the Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu flatly refused that Moscow is planning something like this.

The US government has told Congress and its allies in Europe that it has new information about Russian nuclear capabilitieswhich could pose an international threat, according to a source with knowledge of the matter who spoke to Reuters last week.

THE Shoigu said that the American claims for Russia's intentions are aimed at nto scare the American congressmen and senators to approve more resources to be spent on dealing with Russia.

Putin said that Russia's space activities are no different from those of other countries, including the US. He added that his country is open to negotiations with the United States on strategic stability and contacts through the defense and foreign ministers. “But if they want to achieve unilateral advantages, that will not happen,” he added.

Putin mocks Ukrainian army's 'chaotic flight' from Avdiivka of eastern Ukraine, which was abandoned last week by the forces of Kiev, after months of fighting.

“The command of the Ukrainian armed forces gave the order to withdraw from Avdiivka when the Ukrainian soldiers were already leaving there (…) it was actually a flight in the full meaning of the term,” Putin said at the meeting with the defense minister Sergei Shoigu.

The Russian president also said, according to APE-MPE, that Russian forces should build on their successes on the battlefield and that any further action should be well prepared.

Shoigu: Russian forces captured the Ukrainian bridgehead of Krinki on the Dnieper

Shoigu announced that Russian forces had taken the village of Krinki under their control, in the Kherson area and that the Russian operation continues, with troops moving west. Krinki was the bridgehead painstakingly built by Ukrainian forces in the summer of 2023 on the southern front, on the Russian-occupied bank of the Dnieper River. “Krinki has been cleared, we de facto control the entire bank,” the minister said, after Putin asked him if the bridgehead had been captured.

Referring to Avdiyivka, he said the coke plant was now under Russian control and that the Ukrainians had left many wounded in the town, Reuters reported citing Russian news agency Tass. Russian forces created unbearable conditions for the Ukrainian army in Avdiivka, which was forced to withdraw while Russia managed to complete the operation to capture the city with the least possible losses, the Russian defense minister also claimed.
