Putin-Erdogan Communication on Ukraine: Concern over Situation in Moldova

The Russian president had a telephone conversation about Ukraine today Vladimir Putiand the Turkish counterpart of Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told reporters that a more detailed briefing on the phone would be provided later.

Peshkov, meanwhile, noted that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation in Transnistria. the breakaway region of Moldovastressing that Moscow is seriously concerned about the information coming from the region.

The Transnistrian authorities announced earlier today that explosions had taken place on a radio tower near the border with Ukraine, while the Security Council of the region pointed out that there was a “terrorist attack” against a military unit in Tiraspol. Moldovan President Maia Santou has convened an emergency meeting of the country’s Supreme Security Council.
