Putin, Kim Jong-un Exchange Letters – Pledge to Strengthen Russia-North Korea Relations

The letters were sent to mark the 78th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from 1910-45 Japanese colonial rule, which is also a national holiday in South Korea.

In his letter to PutinKim said the two countries’ friendship was forged during World War II with victory over Japan and now “fully demonstrates their invincibility and strength in the struggle to crush the arbitrary practices and hegemony of the imperialists,” according to the KCNA.

“I am absolutely convinced that friendship and solidarity…will further develop into a long strategic partnership that keeps pace with the demands of the new era”said the Kim in his letter.

“The two countries will always emerge victorious, strongly supporting each other and cooperating with each other along the way to achieve their common goal.”

The US has accused North Korea of ​​supplying Russia with weapons for its war in Ukraine. Pyongyang and Moscow deny this.

For his part, the Russian president, in his message to Kim, also pledged to strengthen bilateral relations.

“I am confident that we will strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields for the prosperity of the two peoples and the strong stability and security of the Korean Peninsula and the whole of Southeast Asia”Putin said according to KCNA.
