Putin: Moscow’s goals in Ukraine – who is disappointed to mitigate expectations

Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that he hoped the peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will continue and that the working groups would discuss potential compromises, but said Moscow’s goals remain irrevocable, according to RES. Speaking a week before the expiry of the deadline given by US President Donald Trump to Russia to reach an agreement on the ceasefire to prevent new sanctions – also including countries that buy hydrocarbon exports – Putin did not. He said that if some were disappointed with the evolution of peace talks to date, this was the result of increased expectations, apparently referring to statements by Donald Trump, who had said he was “frustrated” with Putin, though he had not said.
