Russian President Vladimir Putin today called on Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table with separatists in the east of the country, citing rising tensions in the region, according to Reuters.
He also called for the implementation of the Minsk peace process
At a news conference in Moscow, Putin also said that Russia was ready to follow the path of negotiations with NATO on the security guarantees it was seeking.
He said, however, that the Alliance and Washington were not yet willing to engage in a discussion on Moscow’s key concerns.
The Russian president also expressed the view that Russia should work to strengthen its economic sovereignty, as he said the West would always find an occasion to impose sanctions on Moscow.
