Russian President Vladimir Putin today called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to respect Syria’s “territorial integrity” a week after the long -standing clashes in the southern part of the country and the subsequent Israeli bombings. Putin “underlined the importance of preserving unity, national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as the strengthening of internal political stability,” the Kremlin’s announcement of telephone communication between the two leaders. Putin and Netanyahu also discussed the recent Israeli-Jran military conflict, with the powerful Kremlin man declaring “ready to contribute in every way to seek solution through negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program”.
