Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that he sees no “need” for talks with US President Joe Biden.
Speaking at a press conference in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, Putin said he had yet to make a decision about attending a Group of 20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, next month.
The Russian president said there are no plans for a new military deployment in Russia. Putin said the “partial mobilization” he announced last month, which the defense minister said was aimed at recruiting 300,000 troops, was ending and would end within two weeks.
Putin said India and China supported “peaceful dialogue” in Ukraine, a month after their leaders appeared to disagree with him on the conflict at a summit in Uzbekistan last month.
Putin said Ukraine was not ready for negotiations and thanked Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan for his role in brokering prisoner exchanges.
The Russian president said Germany was making a “mistake” in prioritizing its loyalty to NATO over its national interests.
He said Germany had yet to make a decision on the only intact line of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, through which he said it would be possible for Russia to pump gas to Germany. He said such a decision was none of Russia’s business.
