The president Vladimir Putin declared, this Sunday (25), that the Russia is ready to negotiate with all parties involved in the war against Ukraine, but which Kiev and its Western backers have refused to negotiate.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24 sparked the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II and the biggest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
The Kremlin says it will fight until all its objectives are achieved, while, on the other hand, Kiev says it will not rest until Russian soldiers are expelled from its territory, including Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
“We are ready to negotiate with all those involved on acceptable solutions, but that is up to them – it is not us who refuse to negotiate, it is they,” Putin told state television Rossiya 1 in a broadcast interview.
Putin said Russia was moving in the “right direction” during the conflict in Ukraine. That’s because the West, led by the United States, is trying to tear the country apart, according to the Kremlin.
“I believe that we are moving in the right direction, we are defending our national interests, the interests of our citizens, our people. And we have no choice but to protect our citizens,” Putin said.
