Vladimir Putin told the leaders of the BRICS team that the era of liberal globalization is outdated and that the future belongs to the rapidly growing emerging economies, which must boost the use of their national coins in trade. The Russian president spoke at the Rio de Janeiro Summit via a teleconference because of the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court as a suspect for the conduct of war crimes in Ukraine. “Everything shows that the model of liberal globalization is getting outdated … The center of business is shifting to emerging markets,” he said, calling the countries of the BRICS team to boost cooperation in a range of sectors such as natural resources, supplies and finance.
