The Russian president Vladimir Putin signed orders today to remove from his duties the head of the Russian space agency (Roskosmos) Dmitry Rogozin, whose place will be taken by Yuri Borisov, who leaves the post of Deputy Prime Minister. This exchange of roles was predicted by the Russian media, as on Tuesday night three newspapers, Kommersant, Vedomosti and RBK, had written at the same time that Yuri Borisov will leave the post of deputy prime minister and is intended for Rogozin’s position.
In what position will he be placed? Rogozinhas not yet been announced, the BBC Russian service writes, pointing out that yesterday the Medusa website wrote that he should be employed in the Kremlin in the immediate future, but what position he will take is something that is still being studied.
The 65-year-old Yuri Borisov takes the place of 58-year-old Dmitry Rogozin for second time. In May 2018, he had replaced him by taking the position of deputy prime minister. Before assuming the post of Deputy Prime Minister, he was Deputy Minister of Defense (since 2012) and previously headed the government committee responsible for the military industry.
Rogozin, who gave way to Borissov, had become known for his harsh expressions, primarily on his Twitter page, which later became the official account of the Russian space agency (Roskosmos) that contained more official information.
Rogozin has repeatedly clashed with the American businessman Elon Musk, who has started his own space program.
His rhetoric, like that of other Russian leaders, has hardened since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. Among his most recent statements: on April 12 (when the media announced that Borisov would take his place), Rogozin instructed cosmonauts on the International Space Station (ISS) to stop working with the European ESA.
Rogozin is open to becoming one of the Kremlin’s commissars in the self-proclaimed “People’s Democracies”
Citing its own imgs, the Meduza website claimed that Rogozin was being considered as one of the Kremlin’s commissioners to the self-proclaimed “People’s Republics” of Donbass, recognized by order of Putin before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In this case, he will be assigned the post of presidential adviser or deputy head of the presidential administration, which is currently held by Dmitry Kozak.
The first deputy head of the presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko, now regularly travels to the occupied parts of Ukraine. After February 24, Kozak has been sidelined.

With a separate decree, the Russian president placed the Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Madurov in the position of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov.
